After getting bored from doing my homework I’ve decided to have another crack and making something interesting in Photoshop. After more rum that I’d like and a couple of headaches, I finished on this.
There are a few things that I don’t like about it, mainly how the light seems to shrink on the pavement and how there’s no reflection of the lamp post in the water, but other than that I’m pleased with how it turned out. I did try to make a 3D model of this in Blender but it just wasn’t sitting right with me. You can see that attempt in the header image for this post.
It’s always a good feeling when you found something you thought you had lost. Go back a few years and I was rather into graphic design and in the down time I had I’d make different bits of abstract work that I was rather partial to however, due to a hard drive failure in the laptop I had at the time, I lost everything. All the time that I had dedicated to learning and creating was gone in less than a second.
The feeling sure as hell didn’t last less than a second. I tried for months to get the laptop to boot into Windows so I could save everything and get things back. Thankfully, I had the smart idea to save everything to a back-up hard drive (clearly not smart enough to remember doing so as I’ve only just found the hard drive) and managed to regain all the work I had once thought was lost.
If there is any interest in the things I’ve made then I can post some of the work I did on here for people to see but if there is no interest I’ll keep it to myself. Always keep back-ups of the work you do. Even if it’s just for the feeling of going through and seeing the learning curve you created for yourself. It’s nice to have things from the past.
